I'm having the same problem with the chkdsk error and I tried the simple solution you suggested, and by doing it manually, it still says the same thing the command prompt Please note: All comments will be moderated. Try defragging in Safe Mode Restart your computer and press F8 repeatedly after the boot screen to start Windows in Safe Mode. It may try to actually "fix" problems, but those it can't, it apparently just re-allocates.
