Drupal 7 Ckeditor Image Upload Not Working

Anyone else have this strange overlay, white-out occurrence happening in their development environment? IMCE seems to allow both, but the images you are accessing from your site then have to be in the public directory. I did not need to edit any files, javascript or otherwise. If I enable CKFinder as the CKeditor browser in the module admin without installing it, I get the upload tab and the upload button exactly as in FCKeditor, I can select http://sevevb.com/drupal-7/drupal-wysiwyg-image-upload-not-working.html

Perhaps the WYSIWYG module could perform a better "check" and warning (it shows CKEditor installed without any hint the module is missing). If you want to try them both out, keep in mind you can only try one module at a time and you MUST turn the other off (disable & uninstall) or I apologize if this is addressed somewhere obvious, and I've just missed it..
